Creating chaos

I’ve discovered a new love – crochet. It gives my brain space to think while my fingers stay busy. I can also drop it fairly instantly if small boy decides that moment is perfect for mischief. Now my living room is covered in yarn and bits of crochet along with paper and pen. A hobby … Continue reading

A Slight Dry Spell

Whoops. I seem to have lost 2 months down the back of the sofa. Getting back on the wagon and back to normal now. All I can say is that I have had plenty of material for writing from it all!

I do believe in fairies!

Fairies and Magic.  However, my take on these things isn’t necessarily the traditional image.  In my writing, magic is nearly always present along with a healthy sense of romance.  So, why am I obsessed with magic. Magic is that sense of awe and surprise that we have as children.  It’s the sparkle of Christmas morning … Continue reading

Sex is Fun!

There, I said it!  Now, Mum, if you are reading this.  Stop now!  Look at the kitty instead! Right, so, as I was saying, sex is fun.  I think in writing that we can get caught up in the hot stuff and forget that good sex is fun too.  We focus on the intensity and … Continue reading

Expect the unexpected?

Firstly, I submitted my work to a competition.  It’s not national or anything but there is a small possibility of publishing (if … Continue reading

Reading leads to writing

I love to read.  I know that’s probably not surprising.  I am a writer after all, where would I learn my craft if I don’t read.  I have always loved to read. I learned to read at a very young age.  My parents borrowed reading books from my older sisters’ school for me to read. … Continue reading

The Xander Factor

I have a confession.  One of my favourite programmes during my teenage years is Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  I was glued to it almost from the first day it aired in the U.K.  When I saw that it was being repeated from the beginning on TV a couple of months ago I was thrilled.  Sure … Continue reading

A little love

Romance is an interesting thing.  It’s different for everyone.  Sure, hearts and flowers is the most known about form of romance but the romance that gets to you is the personal stuff.  It’s the person who writes a little note for you to find at an unexpected because they know it will cheer you up.  It’s … Continue reading

Rewrite, rewrite, rewrite some more

I’m working on a short piece in preparation for sending in for a competition.  Setting aside the mind-numbing what-the-hell-am-I-thinking-and-what-makes-me-think-I-stand-a-chance fear (back in your box with you!).  I’m an in the depths of rewrites. I know the story is good.  I know it’s worthy of submission.  But it needs work.  I’ve already gone through a couple … Continue reading
